Who are we?

Hi, I’m Emily.

I’ve lived in Austin for 18 years, and I love this city. The tours you’ll find here are built on my own research and my passion for Austin history. I have a slight preference for wild and dark history, so each tour tends to have a few surprises.

Keeping it weird… and true.

NGC Tours aims to share our love for the city of Austin with anyone who will listen. We pride ourselves on our extensive research and accuracy. Our goal is to showcase the wild history of Austin and its many colorful characters authentically, because when it comes to Austin, the truth really is weirder than fiction.

Our Guides

If you book for the near future, Emily will be your guide. We are currently looking to hire a guide or two, so please reach out if you love history and people.

  • Where should I eat before or after the tour?

We have lots of recommendations. Click here or click the Recommendations tab at the top.

  • Q: What should I bring and wear?

Bring water! Check the weather and dress for it. In the winter, it’s always a little colder downtown. Consider the following: Walking shoes, hats, sunglasses, umbrella.

  • Q: How much should I tip my guide?

Tips are optional. If you are wondering what is customary, it’s $5-15/person depending on your preference and the quality of the tour.

  • Q: What other payment options are there?

If you can’t book online or prefer not to, there are other options. Please contact us via call, text, or email to book and arrange payment.

  • Q: What happens if it rains?

Our tours go out rain or shine! Please check the weather and be prepared for whatever’s coming our way. For rain, we recommend waterproof footwear, ponchos and/or umbrellas. Keep an eye on the weather ahead of time if this is going to be a problem for you. See our cancellation policy (also in the FAQ).

  • Q: Where should I park?

    Meters:

We find there is often parking around 9th St on either side of Congress Avenue. There is metered parking all over downtown Austin. The meters have an app called ParkATX. It may be helpful to download it and set up your payment method and vehicle information before you get downtown.

    Quarter meters:

There are often open spots at the coin-operated meters surrounding the Capitol building on 10th & 11th near Congress Ave. You’ll need a handful of quarters.

    Private parking lots and garages:

There are plenty of these downtown, you’ll see them. Prices are more expensive (usually starting at $20) but a more convenient option. Many will let you park there all day.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

24 Hours advance notice for a full refund.
